Leaves unopened at top page edges.; 436 page + 8 b&w plates + 1 folding table + 9 large folding maps (2 colour). Contemporary half-leather and marbled papered boards. Page dimensions: 238 x 147mm (9 3/8"x 5 3/4"). Page edges sprinkled in red. Arranged by state. The illustrations are b&w photographic illustrations of National Guard troops, Engineering Division on encampment doing various activities,e.g. Signal Tower, District of Columbia, 1895; Bridge Building, District of Columbia, 1897; Profile for 1 Gun Battery; A Masked Battery. The maps include"Map of the Vicinity of the Connecticut State Military Rendezvous / Niantic Conn. Prepared by Command of Brig. Gen. George Haven [. . .] 1897".
